A Truly Historic Evening…
Today, the people of the United States elected a man of color to be President. This is something that was not seen as possible, even 20 to 30 years ago.
Even though I had policy differences with Barack Obama and voted for John McCain, I look forward to the next four years and will work to support him. He is our President.
Don’t get me wrong, where needed, I will question decisions I don’t agree with and always express my opinion. That is something that all Americans should do.
But I will always respect the final decision. He is the President and deserves that respect.
I am extremely disappointed in some of the Republicans this evening. During John McCain’s concession speech, he was congratulating Barack Obama and many of them booed. That is just plain wrong!
During a Presidential campaign, we always have a civil fight for the Presidency. But once that fight is over, we all come together for the good of the country.
Those who supported John McCain must heed his words and work to bring about good will and come together.
This is a truly historic evening. Our country will only get better for it.

One of the things that really gets me is the photography by Heather. There are some great photos and really shows a different John McCain.
The election is long from being over. McCain is closing in the polls.
One thing is for sure, your vote counts. Make sure that you get out and vote on Tuesday. The only reason not to vote on Tuesday is if you have already early voted or voted by mail.

I don’t get the people who think Obama is an Arab and/or Muslim
I just don’t get or understand the people in this country and how they think that Barack Obama is an Arab or Muslim.
John McCain was right to take the microphone from the women who was ignorant and asked the question last Friday.
I just want to say that I am supporting John McCain because he is the candidate that falls within my beliefs and I feel that he is best to lead this country at this time.
It is not because I think Obama is a Muslim or terrorist like others believe. I just think some of his policies will cause the deficit to grow a lot more than it is and that he does not have the leadership experience to do the job. He has also made some bad decisions to associate and listen to the wrong people over time.
Obama is a wonderful family man and father. He is a Christian. No where close to the Arab or Muslim that people are scared of just because of his name.
And what would be the problem if he was an Arab or Muslim? Is that a problem? I don’t believe so.
I have met and associated with many people who are arabs, muslims, etc. In fact, for all you doubters out there, there are Arab-Christians in this world.
There are many wonderful people in this world who are Muslim. They are nice, decent, and religious people. The problem is a few people who perpetuate to follow the Koran, but actually don’t understand its teachings. They are a small, radical fringe.
The United States of America is one of the world leaders and we need to vote in the best person to do the job. That is why I am voting for John McCain. I think he can do it.
But if Obama wins, he is our President and I will support him in that role.
This country has come a long way over the last 30-40 years. But it still has a long way to go. We need to move beyond someones skin color, religion, ethnicity, etc. The ignorance needs to end and it ends now.
This ignorance just makes the entire country look stupid to the rest of the world. I just don’t see how it is still around in this wonderful country. It was not the way I was brought up.
Rocky Mountain News Supports McCain’s Health Plan
Dueling med plans : McCain’s offers consumers more long-term choice.
An interesting look at the health care plans and they feel that McCain’s is the best for the long-term, something a health care plan should be.
Contrary to Barack Obama’s ads, I will not see an increase in tax liability, I will see a net tax benefit.
McCain’s health care tax plan provides choice for families, where the choice belongs. It shouldn’t be the choice of government on what health care plan I use.
Obama tries to play the $5,000 going to health insurance companies and not into your pocket. Well it is for health care and should go there and the nice thing is you get to choose what is best for you and your family.
Under McCain’s proposal, if you don’t use the full $5,000 for insurance, the remaining can go into a health savings account.
According to Politifact and the nonpartisan Urban Institute, McCain’s plan would benefit lower income individuals and families over higher-income individuals and families.
An independent analysis from the nonpartisan Urban Institute confirms that: “In general, lower-income people with health insurance would receive benefits from the credit that would be well in excess of the value that they receive from today’s tax exemption. The gains are much smaller for higher-income people.”
I think that it is nice McCain’s plan leaves it up to the individuals to choose their plan and provide a tax credit for that, providing more of a benefit to those of lower income than higher without significantly impacting the deficit.
Do you believe the Presidential polling numbers
The polling numbers are all over the place. Up and down. From one poll to the next, even those taken during the same time frame vary widely.
Real Clear Politics is pulling all the polls together and then averaging them.
For example here in Colorado. A poll ran by the Denver Post (9/29-10/1) had the race between McCain and Obama a tie. Another ran by locals Ciruli and Associates (9/19-9/23) had Obama by +1. The national organizations polling in Colorado had Obama up 4-6 percent.
Do you believe the local pollsters who know Colorado or do you trust the national pollsters. Me, I tend to believe the local pollsters who know Colorado a lot better than the national pollsters.

Obama - Biden Kings of the Earmarks
In this time of trying to be fiscally responsible, the Barack Obama and Joe Biden ticket are the kings of earmarks.
Since he joined the Senate, Obama has requested $860 million in earmarks. When NBC asked the campaign to disclose how many earmarks Biden had requested, they refused.
Earlier this year during the campaign, Joe Biden disclosed that he had requested $342 million in earmarks this year alone.
Sarah Palin? She has requested earmarks also, but not that much. As mayor of Wasila she received $27 million and as governor received over $400 million, scaling back their requests over the tenure of her term as governor.
Now, earmark crusader John McCain. How much has he requested in earmarks? $0! Zero!
For Obama to criticize the McCain - Palin for not being fiscally responsible is just plain wrong. Obama-Biden are two of the biggest abusers of the use of earmarks in the U.S. Senate.
