Some Sad News…Former President Ford Has Died

I am hearing some breaking news.  Former First Lady Betty Ford has told the Associated Press that her husband and former President Gerald Ford has died, he was 93.

He took over this country in a troubled time and did a pretty good job only to get caught up in the anti-Republican and anti-Nixon election to lose the election to Jimmy Carter.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family in this sad time.

Barney Returns for an Encore

The White House is at it again with another hilarious video from Barney.  This year’s holiday video is entitled, “Barney’s Holiday Extravaganza“.

Barney gets creative when OMB and Treasury tell him there is no budget for his movie.  In putting together his no budget movie, he passes on Education Secretary Spellings in favor of Karl Rove for the dancing scene.  And Tony Snow does a good job of putting Barney off and blaming the press corps.  Sounds like something he does every day. ;)
All-in-all this is a fun movie that gives someone a different look at the White House, especially during the holiday season when it is so beautiful.

Thanks Barney.  We are looking forward to more.

Well I was wrong…

When I last posted I thought that the Republicans would hold onto the Senate, but they didn’t. See the MSNBC article “Democrats win control of Senate“. It is interesting because the state has not declared a winner and they are still canvasing and their will probably be a recount.

If this holds, it will be an interesting two years. As I said in an earlier post, it will be interesting to see how the Democrats behave. If they try to exact revenge on the Republicans, I think they will be out of control of the House and Senate in two years.

With Rumsfeld leaving and a new Secretary of Defense coming on may dampen the nastiest of the likely upcoming hearings and questions.

It is certainly going to be a fun two years. Bring on the Presidential Election!

An Interesting Evening…

It has been an interesting evening. Isn’t a Democracy great?

It will be interesting to see what happens over the next two years with the Democrats gaining control of the House. Will the Democrats seek revenge? Will they try and work with the people across the aisle? Will George Bush work them on issues that they can agree? With the control of the House, the Democrats are going to being driving the legislation and the agenda.
As of now, it looks like the Republicans are going to hold onto the Senate, but barely.

It is going to be an interesting two years as we move to the Presidential election in 2008.

What is with the media?

I have been watching the results this election night and watching MSNBC and CNN call races. They have called Senate races for Democrats when the reported polls are showing the Democratic candidate losing. One case is Maryland where Michael Steele is leading, but they are saying that Cardin is going to win. They are not calling Senate races, except a few solid wins by the Republicans, for Republicans. They are being very cautious. They seem to be trying to solidfy the term of liberal media and ride a semi-Democratic wave tonight.
