A little birdy growing up…
About 3 weeks ago I noticed a bird had built a nest, a finch to be specific, in our wreath on our front door. I took a look and noticed there was an egg in it.
We’ll I just let it go. I never saw the mother, so I thought the egg was dead. Well a week-in-a-half later I took another look and there was a chick. Then I tried to watch it, I neve saw it move.
I even checked it last week and I couldn’t see if it had moved or not. But I still saw the mother flying in and out.
Well yesterday I saw the chick and it was moving. It’s eyes were moving and I could see it breathing.
So after thinking it was dead twice, we are trying to minimize our use of the front door so it can continue to grow and not have a lot of interruptions.
It is getting feathers now and it shouldn’t be much longer. We’ll do our best to help it get a good start into the world.
I just have to keep the kids away. I will show them what it looks like though.
Let the vacation begin…
I am on a little mini-vacation and it is needed. I am staying around town and have family visiting, but it is time to relax and recharge.
I hope to get more posts done and move forward with some other projects.
I am really looking forward to some fun.
Remember the real reason for Memorial Day
Memorial Day has evolved into the “kick-off” of summer. But that is not the real reason for the holiday today.
Memorial Day is remembering all those who went before us who defended our country and gave us the rights we have today. Nothing we do today should remove that from our memories.
Because if we didn’t have these people who stood up and defended us, we wouldn’t have the abiltiy and freedoms we have today.
We need to remember them and say “THANK YOU!”

Why would I want to fly American Airlines?
I have rarely flown American Airlines and I will probably never, ever fly them again.
Today American Airlines announced that they are going to be charging $15 for the first checked bag. United Airlines announced that it is “seriously studying” charging for the first bag.
That is ridiculous. I was upset when United said they were going to charge for the second checked bag, but now for the first one?
The airlines are struggling with a business plan that is getting hammered with competition and soaring fuel prices. So they are cutting services, flights, and charging more for different things.
This is only going to alienate the flying public. I think this bodes well for airlines like Frontier who still treat their passengers well.
I switched a couple years ago to flying Frontier Airlines over United for personal flights and only fly United or another carrier when work says I have to. I don’t need frills, but I want to be respected and treated fairly. I am getting that on Frontier, not on the other airlines.
Frontier is stuggling a little bit, but I think they will come out of this mess a stronger airline that will survive into the future.
I am not so sure about American, United, Continental, and others. Charging for the first bag is just plain stupid and makes bad business sense.
It is going to make boarding a flight harder, people are going to be carrying more on board, and it is just going to be a mess.
And if they are charging for the first and second bag. They better not lose it. If someone is paying for it, it better be waiting when they get to the luggage carousel. They are paying for a service, the airline better deliver!

Mom steps up to plate - The Denver Post
This is a great story by Woody Paige about taking his mother to a Colorado Rockies game. Check it out. I am glad the Rockies won otherwise they may had not come back.
But I am sure she would have dragged Woody along.
For those of you who don’t know, the Rockies won 6-2.
After Forays With ABC and HBO, a Video Blogger Returns to Video Blogging
After Forays With ABC and HBO, a Video Blogger Returns to Video Blogging - New York Times
Well Amanda Congdon has found out that the grass is not always greener and is returning to independent media.
Mainstream media does not always take kind to changing their culture and the culture of vloggers is out there compared to how they like to do things.
I am happy for this and I look forward to see what she develops on this new series, “Sometimes Daily,” of video blogging. It will be an interesting look at life through Amanda.
