Do you have a Facebook?

I saw this on Chris Brogan’s blog and thought it raised some interesting questions about privacy and who is behind the money of Facebook.

It is interesting to think about. I don’t know if all this information gathering is taking place because of Facebook, I think it is something that would be talking place anyway.

  1. I’m fairly new to facebook and I have to admit I’m a bit uncomfortable with the level of information that it wants to keep track of. I’m also weary of all those third-party facebook apps that everyone is using. When you add one of those third-party apps to your facebook account you have to accept their terms of service and you really don’t know who they are…but you’re allowing this third-party app to have access to any information you put in your facebook account.

  2. I have really cut back on the applications I installed and I limit who can see my information. I probably won’t put anymore applications on because it is a time sink.

I do have to say though, Scrabulous is a lot of fun. I am glad that it is still up on Facebook.

Chris, I am really with you on the Facebook apps and privacy. I wish it was better defined. I think that is why they caught heck for sharing information on people bought a couple months ago.

It will be interesting to see how long it is around, if it lasts.
