Colorado Avalanche Fall Just Short

Well the impossible run for a playoff berth fell just short last night as the Avalanche fell 4-2 to the Nashville Predators.

If they would have pulled off the victory, it would have set up a wonderful match-up this evening as the Flames fell to the Oilers, 3-2. I am just wondering that since the Avs during the second period if the Flames let up a bit.

It was a great run and they did not give up at all during the last month of the season. I think that Avs are building for the future and have an opportunity to add a few players this off-season to be ready for a wonderful season next year.

I don’t know who I am going to root for in the playoffs, but right now I am leaning towards the Predators. They are a fine team built for a great playoff run.

People Are Over-Sensitive Regarding Memorial

People are being over sensitive to planned memorial of a Navy Seal, Danny Dietz, who died in combat in Afghanistan.

The memorial planned for Berry Park  is near where he grew up and went to school.  The issue raised  was that this memorial is going to be of Dietz in uniform holding his combat weapon.

The problem, according to the objectors, is that this memorial will only glorified violence and guns.  They especially felt this way since the park where it will be is near some schools, including Columbine High School.

I think people are over-reacting to this memorial.  It is honoring a fallen hero who died trying to protect this country.  One of the things that a soldier has with him is his weapon.  It is used for defending this country.

If you go to military memorials around the state of Colorado and this wonderful country, you will see many memorials to fallen soldiers, and most, if not all, will be holding a weapon of the day.

We need to stop being overly-sensitive to these issues and fight what is really important that violence with guns against each other in this country is wrong and needs to stop.

A memorial to a fallen soldier who is holding a gun is not going to cause someone to commit violence against someone else or use a gun to hurt or kill someone.

What is with MLB.TV

Why do I get commercials when I have subscribed to MLB.TV Premium?

This is crazy.  I subscribe to a service and they are throwing commercials at me.  Not just when I login to watch the games, but whenever I switch between games, I get the commercial.

I am sure tired of watching some guy and deer fight.

This is stupid.  When I get pay-per-view, On Demand, or other premium service I never get ads.

Major League Baseball needs to get out of the NFL attitude of bilking the people who pay their bills and they only reason these games exist, their fans.

Get a clue and when I pay for something, I should not and must not be subjected to ads.

Avs Playoff Hopes Still Alive

The Colorado Avalanche took care of business this evening with a wonderful victory over the Vancouver Canucks riding Milan Hejduk’s hat trick to a 3-1 victory.

They then headed to the locker room and nervously watched the San Jose Sharks hold off the Calgary Flames 4-3.

This keeps their slim playoff hopes alive. With two games remaining for each team, the Avs now trail the Flames by 3 points.

The Avs next need to take care of business against Peter Forsberg and the Nashville Predators on Saturday, while the Flames host Edmonton with a game against their arch rival Oilers.

Lets hope that Sundays game versus the Flames means something and the Avs prevail sending the Flames to early tee times.

Go Avs!

Opera Browser, Not Cutting It

Well I keep wanting to use the Opera browser as my surfing application, but I just can’t bring myself to using it.

Even though it follows all the standards strictly, not all web developers do that and I am constantly finding that I am unable to get several of my most surfed web pages to work on it.

In fact, there is a known flaw in Word Press that hinders the admin area of my blog if I was to use Opera. One example is that the lines don’t wrap in the box that I am writing this post.

I wish there was an alternative to IE and now even Firefox, but right now I will be sticking with Firefox.

Opera, you just need to be more functional with webpages so you can gain wider acceptance. I think that the demand is there.

AFL-CIO & Teamsters Need to Leave Well Enough Alone

Union leaders from the east should leave well enough alone. They don’t know crap about the west, the independent spirit, and how things are done around here. Unions in Denver and in Colorado just don’t cut it anymore.

For those of you who don’t know the Teamsters and the AFL-CIO are threatening to ask the Democratic Party to move their convention from Denver because it is being hosted at the non-union Pepsi Center. There are many non-union hotels in Denver. Jimmy Hoffa, Jr. even threatened Governor Ritter at a dinner in Washington, D.C., this last weekend.

What is upsetting the unions is that Governor Ritter vetoed a bill that would have made it easier to unionize workplaces. But this would only have hurt the pro-business climate that is in Colorado now. These people would not even have jobs, if we didn’t have a good business climate.

Unions once served a giant purpose in this country when business owners abused their workers and there were no pensions available. But this time has passed and unions only serve to hurt business and charge a lot more for services than it should cost to get something done.

I hope the Democratic Party does not cave into these people who think they know what they are doing, but they will only drag them back in time. These leaders should stop threatening people and get on the train or get off the track because they are going to get run over. (Figuratively, not literally.)

The Democrats are coming West to Denver to make gains in the mountain west where they made great gains in the mid-term elections. But I have to agree with Power Line who has a post, “How the West was Lost?“. If the Democrats keep giving in to the fringe elements of the party, they will lose badly in the West.
